I'm Italo, and I'm based in Berlin, Germany.
Currently working as VP of Platform Engineering @urbansportsclub. Previously, I was heading the technology department as CTO @Lykon. I also worked @N26 and @HelloFresh, mainly growing outstanding teams, fostering a good engineering culture, and doing things in Go. I enjoy working with distributed systems and solving complex problems. Go has been my language of choice since 2015 to help me achieve these things while having a great deal of fun.
Today, I spend most of my free time as a volunteer mentor @techstars and as a volunteer teacher @ReDI-School, making lots of coffee and enjoying life at its best.

A system administrator, or sysadmin, is a person who is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems; especially multi-user computers, such as servers. The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers they manage meet the needs of the users, without exceeding a set budget when doing so.
To meet these needs, a system administrator may acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train or supervise staff; or offer technical support for projects.

Two-person agencies. Fortune 500s. Billion dollar, IPO'd VC unicorns. Bootstrapped, fully-remote, early stage startups. I've done my fair share of firefighting at all of them. (You've not seen chaos until you've seen tech departments in academia, believe me).
One thing I've learned throughout all of this though is that what she told you in high school is true: size doesn't matter. The same challenges are yours for the conquering no matter what your environment.
Don't believe me? Give us a listen - I give it half an episode before everything starts to sound eerily familiar.

Pedro Carvalho
Pedro Carvalho has hosted 16 episodes.
I’ve been in software development and delivery since the early 2000s. That’s been enough time to dabble in design, sales, consulting and management. in addition to development. Recently I served as head of engineering at HelloFresh, solutions architect for Fortune 500 companies at Contentful, and am currently head of engineering at Lengoo, where we leverage AI for practical business applications.
I’m passionate about the human and business sides of software and there’s not enough space in this bio for all the implications of that.

I’m a sysadmin by education who turned software developer and general chaos monkey. In general I love the beauty and drama of OSS, the marrying of BDD with TDD, the language and development of DDD and the confusion when people do Event Sourcing and CQRS.
Currently working as a Staff Engineer at HelloFresh where I have no clue why people ever listen to me but it’s fun. Now don’t panic and enjoy my long rants....
